Yet another humanitarian gesture from Sevabharathi

via HK published on June 26, 2008

In a very kind and humanitarian gesture, Sangh organisation Seva Bharathi
has taken responsibility for the welfare of Omana, a 35 year old single
woman of Tripunithura who has been in extreme financial difficulty.
Omana lost her parents many years ago and had been living with her
grandmother. They were making ends meet by collecting herbal medicines
and selling them door to door at various shops. In a tragic incident
two weeks ago, Omana’s grandmother was killed in a car accident. Along
with this, she lost the only source of income she had and passed into
total poverty. Her condition was so difficult that she had not been
able to even have a proper meal in several days. She was thus passing
time with the small help her neighbours gave her and when the local RSS
Shaka came to know of her plight, they arranged help through Seva
Bharathi.

Even when Omana’s grandmother had been alive, their situation was not
good. The village panchayat had once offered assistance in building a
house, but nothing came of it and the place is incomplete and almost in
ruins. Her house is a shack made of plastic sheets and covered with
cloth. Naturally, such a place offers no security or protection
especially that now Omana is living by herself. She had been in a state
of fear and did not have much contact with the outside world. It was at
this time that help arrived through Seva Bharathi officials. Omana has
been accommodated at Nandanam Balasadhanam at Mattanchery and Seva
Bharathi will bear all her expenses.

In an event to mark Omana been
given accommodation and other help, Seva Bharathi Seva Pramukh Sri G
Padmanabhaswamy, district president Sri K Rajagopal, RSS district
Pracharak Sri Dileep Kumar and the secretary of Nandanam Balasadhanam,
Sri Santhaprasad attended. In addition of helping Omana, they have
assured help to her uncle’s family who are also facing serious
financial difficulties. Her uncle’s two children had to stop their
education because of financial difficulty.
