CM’s remarks against scientists flayed
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) Employees Union has condemned Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan’s recent remarks against top scientists including former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, with regard to the Indo-US nuclear deal.
In a statement here, VSSC Employees Union general secretary N.V. Philip said that the Chief Minister had insulted the country’s scientists by comparing Kalam, ISRO chairman Madhavan Nair and former ISRO chairman Kasthurirangan to manufacturers of cracker rockets.
The Chief Minister made these remarks ignoring the illustrious contributions these scientists have made for the country. Once the nuclear deal is through, it will help India surge forward in space technology sector as well, Philip said.
The union demanded the Chief Minister withdraw his remarks.
