Karnataka to take action against Christian Educational Institutions
Bangalore:Karnataka
Primary Education Minister
Visveshwar Hegde Kageris announcement to take action against
Christian institutions
, which observed a bandh
on Friday
against the reported attack on Christians in Orissa,
has triggered a controversy with Opposition parties and Christian groups trying to politicise the Governments decision.
Â
Kageri had directed his officials to take action against the managements for shutting down schools without prior permission from the Government. He pointed out that several schools were getting
Government grants
to run their institutions.
Â
The Minister stated: “They cannot use schools and children to stage protests. If they wish to protest, they should do so democratically.”According to experts, Kageri is right in issuing notices to such institutions that take Government grants.
