Congress explanation on Godhra falls flat on it s face – Modi given clean chit
New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government on Thursday got a clean chit in the 2002 Godhra train carnage. The Nanavati report says the burning of the Sabarmati Express was a pre-planned conspiracy hatched by locals.
Part one of the Nanavati Commission report tabled in the Gujarat Assembly said the burning of S-6 bogey at Godhra railway station was a pre-planned conspiracy.
The report also said that 140 liters of petrol was purchased as the part of conspiracy to burn the bogey. Doors of S-6 and S-7 bogey were forcibly opened and a person called Hassan Lalu threw objects which were burning inside the bogey, the report added.
The report names one Raza Kurkur and Salim Panwala to have purchased petrol on the night of February 26 to be used in burning the bogey of Sabarmati Express.
According to the report, Molvi Umarji planned the entire conspiracy.
The Nanavati report finds no evidence of them having not been able to provide protection, relief or rehabilitation to any riot victim.
