Congress hand being behind many terror activities and communal riots

via BJP Press Release published on November 18, 2008

The Bharatiya Janata Party charges the Congress Party of communalising the sensitive issue of terrorism and adopting a policy of “spit & run” through baseless allegations against the nationalist organisations. The Congress appears to be doing this exercise of politicizing terrorism with a sinister design, to save itself from the nationwide anger against its soft policy towards terrorism. This short term Congress strategy will not only boomerang on it, but more importantly, in the process will jeopardise the spirit of national unity and integrity.

The Bharatiya Janata Party totally condemns the use of phrases by the Congress like “Hindu terror”. Such phrases clearly highlights the existence of a sick mindset and exposes the divisive Congress agenda of vote bank politics at national cost. Isnt it paradoxical and clear duplicity that whenever a Naxalite or ULFA terrorist is arrested, nobody describes such terrorists in terms of their religious identity as a Hindu or Christian? But the Congress wants to deliberately colour terrorism with the clear intention of reaping short term political mileage to serve its petty political interests.

The BJP charges the Congress of directing and misusing the ATS probe in Maharashtra for its selfish political benefit. The Congress-led state government forced the ATS earlier to close down the enquiry in the serial train bomb blasts in Mumbai. The state government never allowed the ATS to undertake narco, brain mapping, and other tests of the suspects in that instance. It never allowed the ATS to investigate on the leads which were available from those who were arrested. The Congress ensured that the ATS does not proceed in other bomb blasts investigations as is being seen in the case of the Malegaon bomb blast. Even the state government readily agreed to hand over the investigations to the CBI in the Malegaon bomb blast of 2006 after Abu Azmi and other leaders complained against the ATS investigation. The Congress certainly owes an explanation to the nation on all these counts. The Congress must realize that terrorist investigations can be solved not through propaganda but only through hard evidence and non-politicized investigations.

History has ample testimony about the Congress hand being behind many terror activities and communal riots. Before levelling baseless allegations against others, the Congress would do well to introspect on its own record and must apologise for the direct involvement of its own party members.

  • Mohd. Surty who was a Minister of State in the Congress government in Gujarat has been sentenced for 20 years by the Courts in an arms smuggling case.

  • The Jama-et-ulema-hind has submitted lists of 40 Congress leaders to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi who were involved in the Godhra riots.

  • Congress Seva Dal member Vimal Mushari who is a close associate of the State Revenue Minister Shri Bhumidhar Barman is arrested for his role in recent serial bomb blasts in Assam.

  • Another Assam Minister Hemant Bishwar Sharma has all types of TADA and Arms Act cases pending against him.
Even terrorists in Karbi Anglong and ULFA have confessed having links with this gentleman.

  • The terrorists nabbed in Demaji blasts in Assam on 15th August, 2005 have confessed that they received instructions from Bharat Narah, Ex.Minister.

  • Involvement of Minister Pramila Rani Brahmo in the Guwahati railway station blasts was investigated.

  • NCP corporators Sabir Sheikh Alias Bhangarwala has been arrested for recent communal riots in Dhulia.

  • Another Congress leader M.M. Sheikh has been charged for the Solapur riots.

  •  Ministers of the Congress government shielding terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir is no secret.

The list is endless. The party which resolved in favour of the Coimbatore bomb blasts accused Shri Madani in the state assembly of Kerala and the party which is always worked hand in glove with Naxalites has no moral right to hurl baseless allegations against others. By their act of omission and commission they are denigrating the prestige of the Armed Forces, Sadhus, Saints and common masses for their selfish political gain.

The Congress has repealed POTA, did away with TADA, deferred handing of Parliament attack convict Afzal, remained silent on the demand for judicial enquiry in the Batala House encounter and has demoralised security forces and sent signal of being a soft state is responsible for rising graph of terror in the country. The country will neither tolerate nor forgive the Congress for such indiscretions and the party will definitely pay a high price for its short sighted policy of going soft and communalising terrorism.
