Sinister Minister!
Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Abdul Rehman Antulay has sent his resignation to the Prime Minister. Just as well, as he deserves to go.
For, he has made a mockery of collective responsibility and irreparably damaged India’s case in the Mumbai terror attack investigation.
.
The
Minister, with his foot in the mouth, and heart in minority pandering,
has raised strange questions regarding Mumbai terror attack in general
and former ATS Chief Hemant Karkare’s death in particular. Antulay
questioned Karkare’s visit to the Cama Hospital instead of Hotel Taj or
Hotel Oberoi and drew a parallel between Karkare’s Malegon probe and
his death indirectly saying that ‘Hindus’ could have liquidated him.
These irresponsible statements could not be brushed aside as off-the-cuff, as they have come from a Minister in the Union Cabinet and his recklessness puts India
in a strange spot, as he is a ‘Muslim’ looking after Minority Affairs!
He has not only caused immense damage to India’s efforts in bringing Pakistan
to book, but also has given a fresh ammunition to the ‘enemy State’,
which is already in a denial mode refusing to accept the irrefutable
results of India’s investigation on Mumbai terror attack.
There has been a sustained
campaign by vested interests in the internet and other medium blaming
‘Hindu-Zionists’ for the death of Hemant Karkare and the Mumbai terror
attack,. The motive of this group is to exonerate the Jihadis and give
enough ammunition to Pakistan to take on India. In this context
Antulay’s statements gain importance and plays straight into the
enemy’s hands. Thankfully there are no takers for his irresponsible
concoctions.
It is strange that Prime
Minister and the Congress President dragged their feet over Antulay’s
remarks, as he deserved to be kicked out, rather than be allowed to go
out on his own terms. This government has always viewed minority
issues including terrorism and evangelism through the vote-bank prism. Â
Antulay has opened a Pandora’s box with his audacious antics, but it could not be closed with his resignation, because, former MaharashtraDeputy Chief Minister
R R Patil had already stated that Hemnat Karkare had gone to him and
cried over his role in the Malegon blast investigation. It is not yet
made clear whether Karkare cried for the ‘accusations’ from Hindu
organisations or for the ‘pressure & instructions’ from the powers
that were. Also former Maharashtra Minister Narayan Rane
had voluntarily made some disparaging remarks that some powerful
politicians have played dirty games with regard to Mumbai attack.
It may be recalled that only
during the Chief Ministership of Antulay, the underworld got well
established in Mumbai and elements like Dawood Ibrahim were let loose to make the commercial capital of India
a real den for smugglers, murderers and anti-social elements. Antulay
was found guilty by the court in a cement scam. Since his track record
is not credible, it is only logical that whatever he says also lacks
credibility.
