RSS Pracharak attacked by Islamic fundamentalists in Tamil Nadu
Dindigul :  RSS Pracharak Bhaskar was attacked by suspected Islamic fundamentalists here. He was rushed to the hospital. Baskar was returning home after a Yoga training class and two persons on a motorcycle hacked him. Bhaskar was shifted to a multi-speciality hospital at Coimbatore for further treatment amid tight security. Bhaskar lost his left leg and a finger in his left hand in the attack.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed in this communally sensitive town on Monday as members of the BJP and Hindu Munnani threw stones at buses and demanded closure of the shops at the bus-stand, protesting the attack on an RSS pracharak.

The volunteers were demanding arrest of those behind the attack on the RSS functionary . Over 500 RSS, Hindu Munnani and Bharatiya Janata Party cadre participated in the demonstration.

Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan has blamed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhgam Government, led by M Karunanidhi, for this attack on an Rashtriya Sevak Sangh (RSS) functionary in Dindigul.

Islamic fundamentalists, who were allegedly behind the attack, were yet to be arrested by the police, he said here on Monday. “While the family of Karunanidhi is getting police protection in the state, the common man is left high and dry.â€

Addressing the saffron brigade, which gathered in front of Memorial Hall to protest against the attack, Ramagopalan accused certain top officials in the Home and police department of protecting the Islamic fundamentalists, with the tacit support of the ruling party, whenever they were involved in attacks on Hindu leaders in the state.

When the RSS and other Hindu organisations conducted an agitation in Dindigul against the attack on Bhaskar, 20 of them were arrested by the police immediately, citing law and order situation. But the same police could not arrest the culprits behind Sunday’s attack.

He said the Hindu Munnani, the RSS and the Bharatiya Janta Party would work towards a people’s movement to remove the governments at the Centre and the State.

Bharatiya Janata Party state president L Ganesan said the anti-nationals and more so the Islamic fundamentalists enjoyed the patronage of the ruling party and the time had come to bring down the governments at the Centre and the State using the power of people with nationalistic tendencies.

Thousands of Hindu Munnani and Bharatiya Janata Party cadre participated in the demonstration.
