JAIPUR: Rajasthan High Court has held that slaughtering of cow is a heinous offence. Rejecting the bail application of a man accused of slaughtering a cow, Justice Mahesh Chandra Sharma, obseverd: “Livestock is a social asset and they balances the economy of the country. The slow depreciation of the livestock is increasing the criminal tendency of human beings and there is a sheer rise in the adulterated milk, curd, ghee, paneer etc. Even these things are synthetically being prepared. It is causing great harm to the human health in general.”

The court was hearing a bail application of one Kalua alias Shyam Singh. Counsel for the petitioner, Biri Singh Sinsinwar argued that his client had been falsely implicated under the offence of Rajasthan Bovine Act for slaughtering a cow and that the trial will take a long time. Hence the accused may be released on bail.

However, the court rejected his contention and held that such heinous offences against bovine animals were on the rise and this was a serious offence which needs treatment. Earlier, a sessions court had also rejected the accused’s bail application.
