Madrassa teacher held for sodomising, killing child

Lucknow: A teacher was Monday arrested for killing a 12-year-old student after sodomising him at a madrassa (seminary) in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
Maulavi Shahzad, 25, who sodomised and strangled the student at the Abrar Uloom Madrassa in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, some 350 km from Lucknow, was arrested from Bunta village.

“Shahzad has admitted to committing the crime. He told us that he throttled the boy Sunday and later dumped his body in the fields of Bunta village,” police Inspector Yogesh Chaudhary told reporters in Muzaffarnagar.

Police have also initiated an enquiry to ascertain whether other teachers or employees of the seminary were involved in the incident.

“We have learnt that the teacher was sodomising the 12-year-old for the last few days and had threatened him of dire consequences if he told anyone about it,” said Chaudhary.
