Youth Congress upsets Vallasadya ambiance; Smash Aranmula Joint Action Council office.

Youth Congress workers are reported to have unleashed violence in Aranmula, where the famed Vallasadya has just begun. The YC activists are said to have gone on a rampage, destroying the Aranmula Heritage Village Protection Action Council office and police station.

Reports of attacks by YC activists on the residences of members of Aranmula Heritage Village Protection Action Council have also come in. A number of vehicles are reported to have been smashed up by them, causing panic among devotees who have flocked the hamlet to attend the vallasadya.

The uproar unleashed by YC members was in response to the protest by the Village Protection Action Council, over the visit of MLA K Sivadasan.

The MLA had arrived in Aranmula to take part in the famed vallasadya, which began today. Sivadasan’s visit was greeted by protests by the irate inhabitants of Aranmula and members of the action council. The villagers were protesting against the state government’s proposal to build an international airport at Aranmula, which is a grave threat to the delicate ecological system of the place.
