GURUVAYUR: The 30th annual state convention of Yogakshema Sabha registered its protest against Devaswom Minister G Sudhakaran’s harsh words against thantris of various temples and the comments made by the minister on the Brahmin community.

Yogakshema Sabha president MV Sadasivan Namboothiri, in his presidential address at the inaugural function, said that the contribution of the Yogakshema community for the social reformation in the state was high.

EMS Namboodiripad, VT Bhattathiripad and Premji were from the Yogakshema community, he reminded the Devaswom Minister.

Guruvayur MLA KV Abdul Khader in his inaugural address promised that the LDF government would not enforce any law for permitting entry for non- Hindus to the temple, where restrictions are already in force.

The issue of entry for KJ Yesudas to the Sree Krishna temple, Guruvayur was a closed chapter and he urged the Yogakshema Sabha not to make any further row.

Earlier, Abdul Khader formally inaugurated the convention. Guruvayur Devaswom former chairman PT Mohana Krishnan released the souvenir by handing it over to MK Narayanan Namboothiri.

Actor TG Ravi, Chamber of Commerce president PV Mohammed Yassin, Press Forum president VP Unnikrishnan, Nair Samajam secretary V Achutha Kurup , Vengeri Raman Namboothiri and sabha state general secretary Sree Kumar Thamarappilly also addressed the gathering.

Vasthu Acharyan Kanipayoor Krishnan Namboothiripad, veteran temple Othikkan Pottakuzhi Raman Namboothiri and senior Keezhsanthi Mecheri Krishnan Namboothiri were honoured at the meeting.

The state meeting of women and youth wings of Yogakshema Sabha were also held at the venue on Saturday. KD Damodaran Namboothiri presided over the central committee of Yuvajana Sabha while Savithri K Namboothiri presided over meeting of Vanitha Sabha.
