Widespread corruption in connection with Haj Pilgrimage

Kondotty: The controversial Haj Subsidy given to Muslims in the country is widely misused and swindled by Imams and Influential Muslims in the state.   

The hard-earned money paid as taxes to the govt by the common man is distributed by the govt to the haj-going muslims as a part of its minority appeasement and there is no mechanism atleast to make sure that it is further misused.

On monday, a group of 20 hajis were arrested at Karipur airport for trying to travel using fraudulent methods of cheating the govt. A native of Vazhacaud and the Imam of Mattanur mosque, Ali Musaliar was heading this group of this 20 hajis.

When the haj cell verified his travel documents, it was found that Ali was a member of a gang who misuses the Subsidy.

Even after noticing this fact the Haj cell allowed this criminal Imam to continue their pilgrimage.This imam was also carrying the food items to prepare in Saudi after pocketting the food allowance of 2100/ person of 20 Hajis in his team.

In spite of these misappropriation, the Haj chairman allows such persons to travel on the govt’s expenses.

No State Minister’s were ready to opine about this widespread corruption involved in the name of Haj, But they will be in the forefront to abuse Devaswom personals as ‘Scoundrels’ in public meetings.
