PATHANAMTHITTA: BJP state general secretary M.T.Ramesh said that the CPM was allegedly promoting religious extremism by sharing common platform with Abdul Nassar Madhani’s PDP in the Lok Sabha election.

Inaugurating the BJP parliamentary election convention here on Saturday, Ramesh said that the dismantling of the police special investigation team, which is probing into the deaths of youths from the State in an encounter with the Army in Kashmir, was clear evidence of  protecting Madhani’s PDP,  which reportedly worked as a State outfit of LeT.  Ramesh said that the CPM’s liaison with the PDP had raised doubts in the minds of the people of the State.

The BJP leader alleged that the Congress had developed links for electoral gains with the NDF, another anti-national outfit which promotes divisive propaganda in the State.

Ramesh said that the Congress-led UPA Government, as part of appeasing the minority community, had made madrassa education on par with the CBSE with the ulterior motive of winning votes of that community.  The CPM-led LDF Government moved a step further by launching a pension scheme for madrassa teachers in the State, he said.    Ramesh challenged CPI general secretary A.B. Bardhan, who declared PDP as an extremist outfit, to take action against the party leaders in the State who share platform with the PDP leaders.

BJP district president T.R.Ajitkumar presided over the function.  BJP candidate B.Radhakrishna Menon, A.G.Unnikrishnan, Pratapachandra Varma, Madhu Parumala, Elanthur Haridas, Ajit Pullad and K.S. Tharanathan spoke on the occasion.
