Thiruvananthapuram: In another land mark verdict the Thiruvananthapuram vigilance court has called upon the police to produce the report related to the Deshabhimani bond case and the Lis corruption case.
In the Deshabhimani bond case the CPI(M) leadership was accused of having accepted an amount of Rs 2 crore as bond money for Deshabhimani newspaper from controversial lottery king Santiago Martin. The then general manager of the Deshabhimani M Venugopal was accused of having accepted huge money from the owner of the Lis financial institution to settle his case.
The court asked the police to submit either the FIR or the investigation report of the cases before April 30.
The court also observed that it was unfortunate for having no progress in the case for the past seven months. The vigilance court also observed that the Government was already directed to finish the case within three months after starting the investigation and that there has not been any progress in this regard. The court asked the prosecution as to whether any hindrance was taking place in the investigation and to inform the court if there was any problems in the investigation.
