Was TP Murdered for visiting ‘Pinarayi’s Home’,asks Mahashewta Devi

published on June 24, 2012

Never before in the history of Kerala has the residence of a political leader been shrouded in controversy, as that of the State Secretary of Kerala CPM, Pinarayi Vijayan. The truth is that not many Keralites are actually aware of the residential building of Pinarayi Vijayan . The discussion on his house first came to the forefront with Pinarayi being accused in the Lavalin electricity case.

Adding to this, the social networking media too contributed their share in spreading word about Pinarayi’s house. A palatial mansion stated to be his home caught up via web world like wild fire. Pinarayi was quick to spring to his defence stating that the house was not his. It was supposed to be the house of an NRI. The cyber police is even supposed to have arrested a few people in this matter. With that things appeared to settle down for a brief while

But Pinarayi’s house, in spite of being a controversial issue, has not seen party newsletters publishing a single picture of the same as clarification. The crafty opposition UDF has made use of the issue in ample too. The party’s current agenda is to unlock the secret trove called ‘Pinarayi’s home’. Ample discussions too are going on in this direction.

However, stories have started reviving again with regard to the Communist leader’s house. This time, an invitation extended to Mahashweta Devi, her acceptance of the same and subsequent visit is what brought Pinarayi’s house to the newsmaker’s palate.
Mahashweta Devi was invited to Pinarayi’s home by the same person who suspended 3 DYFI workers hailing from Onchiyam for visiting his house, terming it as ‘breach of disciplinary rules’. It has been surprising that the same party which has failed to give a convincing reason for the suspension has indulged in sending an invitation to Mahashweta Devi. But it has been stated that the murder of Chandrashekharan and certain rumours surrounding it which required clarification, are the reasons for the invitation.

Even after the suspension of the DYFI workers, no picture or video footage was shown by party news papers or channels to zip rumours. This only served to add strength to the opposition party’s allegations. Coupled with this have been instances where Janashakti, mouthpiece of UDF, carried umpteen pictures of the house. And so it was baffling why the Left related Deshabhimani did not issue any clarification related to the same. The party superiors stood silent on the issue too. With the silence being observed by CMP bigwigs, controversies of Rs 2 crore being spent on Pinarayi’s palatial residence have started gathering momentum.

It was at this juncture that Mahashweta Devi wrote a letter in detail to Vijayan. She mentioned that Vijayan’s palatial mansion was inaccessible and that no one in Kerala could even go anywhere near it. She also asked if the one among the reasons for Chandrashekharan’s murder was his visiting Pinarayi’s residence, with his colleagues.
