VS stuns CPM

Kerala Chief Minister and senior CPM Politburo member VS Achuthanandan on Wednesday stunned his party by justifying Governor RS Gawai’s act of permitting the CBI to prosecute party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan in the Rs 374.5-crore SNC Lavalin corruption case, in which he was the ninth accused.

With Achuthanandan taking a position diametrically opposite to that of his party and continuing to violate party decisions, the CPM would now be left with no other option but to ask him to resign as Chief Minister or to expel the octogenarian leader, who had given more than seven decades of his to the party.
