Vishnumangalam temple burgled

KASARGOD: The panchaloha idol at the Vishnumangalam temple at Edaneer was stolen in the early hours on Tuesday.

The temple hundi was also burgled by thieves. But the idol was later found abandoned near the temple.

The temple was closed at 7.30 pm on Monday after the ‘deeparadhana’.

The priests who came in the early hours of Tuesday noticed the theft. The door at the southern side of the temple was found opened following a search by the temple committee officials.

The ‘prabhavali’ and the temple hundi were also found near the temple by the police.

A part of the idol, which used to be taken out during ‘thidambu’, was found missing. The police conducted the preliminary investigation with the help of fingerprint experts.
