Thiruvananthapuram:  The LDF has decided to abandon the Travancore-Kochi Devaswom amendment bill was presented in the Kerala state assembly in March.

The new bill had advocated raising the number of Devaswom members from three to seven. The Bill if enacted would have given the government the right to re-examine any decision taken by the Devaswom Board.

Several Hindu organisations including the NSS, Hindu Aikya Vedi have raised reservations about the bill, saying it was aimed at imposing government control on Hindu institutions through the backdoor.
