THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: David Terrell, the American evangelist who had been barred by the police from preaching following a visa row, has left the country, police said.

The police said Terrell, his secretary and bodyguard left the country of their own accord on Thursday.

Terrell had entered the country on a visiting visa and cited business as the purpose of visit.

Terrell had been invited by the CSI Church, Amaravila, to speak at the 74th Amaravila Aikya Convention.

But the Hindu Aikya Vedi lodged a complaint with the Neyyattinkara DySP alleging that he was not authorised to conduct missionary activity as he was on a visiting visa.
