An American evangelist, David Terrel, who has arrived in the country on a business visa, was stopped from delivering sermon at the annual convention of Church of South India (CSI) at Amaravila near here by authorities. He was reportedly invited by the CSI for preaching at the convention despite being in the country on a business Visa.

The Police authorities following a complaint filed by the Hindu Aikya Vedi had restricted the foreigner from “delivering sermons” as it would violate the visa norms, police sources were quoted as saying.

They said that the visa under which he had entered the country did not allow missionary activities. Both the church and Mr Terrel had been informed of this decision, they said.Mr Terrel’s had addressed the faithful in the capital and also in Thiruvalla during his earlier visit.
