Two more IG’s to probe seizure of air pistols

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Apart from ADGP Jacob Punnose, the government has appointed two more IG’s to investigate the arms haul at Kochi yesterday. The team now has security wing IG N C Asthana, an arms expert and southern zone IG Arun Kumar Sinha.

Preliminary assumption is that these arms have been exported to train terrorists in firing. The police received information that some customs officials of the Kochi Harbour have some connection in the export of arms and now they are under observation. Six containers have been exported earlier in R O Koya’s name with the help of customs officials.

Sources suspect that those containers also might have been laden with arms and it might have reached the hands of terrorists. Police are trying to trace Koya reported to be absconding. All major airports have been alerted to see that he doesn’t leave the country
