TRIPUNITHURA: When the Left-sponsored hartal paralysed normal life in the state, and left the air and train passengers without food and water on Tuesday, the comrades had a sumptuous feast at Tripunithura railway station.

After blocking the long-distance trains at the railway station, the CPM workers decided to take rest and have breakfast in front of the starving passengers of the long-distance trains.

Though all the hotels and food stalls in the lifeless town remained closed, the sumptuous breakfast reached the comrades at the railway station in time.

Since early morning itself, the party workers had started flocking to the railway station in rallies, carrying placards with anti-UPA slogans on them.

After learning of the schedules of various trains passing through the station, the comrades blocked each and every train, leaving the hapless passengers high and dry.

Then, the passengers were left to witness silently the comrades having the feast.

Meanwhile, when almost all the shops, including the hotels, lowered their shutters, the deserted highways witnessed brisk sale of fresh fish caught from the nearby lakes.
