Torture of Students in University College: Marxist Leaderships Shields SFI Goons

The CPM leadership has rushed to defend their SFI goons, who have unleashed a reign of terror in University College Thiruvananthapuram. The hidden agenda is to save their face by seeking suspension of SFI goon Ambadi Shyam Prakash from the college unit. There are reports that this is a joint venture aimed at face saving, indulged in by SFI and local Marxist chapter.

According to sources, complaint was registered against third year graduation students, who are members of SFI unit- Ambadi Shyam Prakash, Ananthan, Rahul, Nandu and Mithun. The current plan is to shield all of them, with the exception of Ambadi Shyam Prakash.

Things turned ugly when the college appointed enquiry commission began taking stock of the situation. The SFI-CPM began their scripted drama, by issuing all kinds of intimidations, calling for a report in their favour. As part of the well planned script, a news conference was called for, under the leadership of SFI unit president Praveen, in the presence of a large gathering of students. In a desperate bid to cover up, Marxist leaders and SFI goons issued a statement saying that those who had indulged in physical torture of students were those suspended from the college in the name of ragging.

Earlier, the College Education Director was directed by Education Minister to look into the case, where a group of girls had submitted their grievance of having been allegedly beaten up by SFI goons for not attending SFI strikes. There are also allegations that units of Women’s Cell and Academic Council in the college had failed to take any action against the perpetrators, even though they conducted an investigation after being petitioned by the girl students.

Allegations widely float that the assailants were shielded by these organizations. Other Left winged teachers organizations like AKPCTA are also said to be in league with SFI-CPM, edging and threatening the college principal and students to withdraw their complaint. However, following the directives of City Police Commissioner H Venketesh, DCP P Ajitha Begum had already taken statements from the girl students.

There are also reports of Marxist leaders having issued directives in ensuring smooth college union elections scheduled to be held in October 2014.
