KOCHI: Three witnesses in the ‘Chekannoor Maulavi’ case yesterday informed the Kerala High Court that they were prepared to cooperate with the trial proceedings in the case.

The three– N Faisal, P A Manaf and Abubacker Haji are in UAE and have informed the court that they were willing to cooperate with the trial. They had earlier challenged the order of the CBI special court to confiscate the properties of the five witnesses in the case.

Only three witnesses have agreed to cooperate and the proceedings against the two others will continue.

Justice K P Balachandran asked CBI to take steps to withdraw the warrant against them to enable them to return to India to stand trial.

The Maulavi was a respected religious leader who is believed to have been murdered a couple of years ago. CBI is investigating the case.
