Thousands bid a tearful adieu to Srividya

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thousands of her fans, film world colleagues and cultural personalities on Friday bade a tearful adieu to leading South Indian actress Srividya, who died on Thursday after battling cancer for long.

The mortal remains of the departed artiste were consigned to flames at the Brahmin Samajam crematorium here with full state honours. The pyre was lit by her brother Sanakararaman.

Earlier in the day, thousands drawn from different walks of life paid their last respects to the actress, whose body was kept at the VJT hall in the city for the public to pay homage.

Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, his Cabinet colleagues and top film stars were among those who paid homage to Srividya.
