The procession carrying the “Thiruvabharanam of Lord Ayyappa” will set off from the Pandalam palace on Jan 12.

The “Thiruvanabharanam” (the golden ornaments) for adorning the idol of the Lord on the Makara Sankranti day on Jan 14 is from the Pandalam Palace. The boxes containing the thiruvabharanam are carried on head by selected devotees who trek to Sabarimala from the Palace. Hence the procession would take three days to reach the Sannidhanam.

The sanctum sanctorum was opened for yesterday for the Makaravilakku Mahotsavam. This year the sanctum sanctorum would remain opened for more hours unlike last year.
