Thiruvabharanam procession to Sabarimala begins today

PANDALAM: The annual procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam, sacred ornaments of the presiding deity at the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple, will set off from the Valiyakoickal Sastha Temple in Pandalam this afternoon.


The sacred ornaments will be kept at the temple precincts for the devotees to have darshan from 6 to 12.30 pm. Anil Kumar Varma is the representative of the Pandalam Palace to escort the Thiruvabharanam from Pandalam to Sabarimala this year.

The procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam will set off from the Valiyakoickal Palace at 1 pm. The royal entourage will halt at the Ayroor Puthiyakavu Devi Temple at Ayroor near Ranni in the evening. The procession will halt at the Laha Sathram tomorrow evening. It will reach Valiyanavattom near Pampa on January 14 afternoon.

The TDB authorities will accord a rousing reception to the Thiruvabharanam procession when it reaches Saramkuthi on the Pampa-Sannidhanam trekking path around 5.15 pm.
