Theft in Sreekandeswaram Temple

KOZHIKODE: A silver idol of Lord Ayyappa, silver utensils  a navaratna ring, Gold and Silver ornaments and 80,000 Rupees were stolen from the Sreekandeswaram Temple in Kozhikode.Theft of amount Two and a Half Lakh Ruppes is reported.The burglars entered the temple after breaking open the lock of the sreekovil.

Theft which happened in the city which is a stone throw from Commisoner’s office in Kozhikode shows that Temple is the easiest target for thiefs. If the Theft was taken place in a Church or Mosque by now our Secular political leaders must be queing there.

Temple thefts have become a routine event, Government which is interested only in looting Temple money have the responsibility to safegaurd the Temples by appointing security to each Temple under Devaswom board. Hindu organisations and Hindu youth should form squads to safegaurd temples under them.
