Thanks to Inefficient Devaswom, Rs 16,000 penalty for Aravana Cans

Thenmala: Yesterday, it was the turn of Sales Tax Department to exploit Sabarimala Pilgrims.

16,000 Rupees penalty was charged on a Lorry coming from Chennai carrying Arvana Cans at Aryankavu Sales Tax Checkpost by the dedicated sales Tax Officers!

The Sales Tax authorities say they have done their duty as the supply came without proper papers. Devaswom Authorities say there is no need to pay tax or penalty as Sabarimala is ommitted from levying Sales Tax.

These Aravan Tins were supposed to reach Sannidhanam by Sunday Morning. This shortage again led to serious shortage of Aravana.

As the money is given by Devaswom Board and it is the money of Hindu Devotees, Noone is there to question this ‘Dedication’ of Sales Tax officers or to ask Devaswom Members, Why they paid 16,000 Rs if there is no need to provide documents in Check Post.

Proper probe should be taken to find out whose fault is this and this amount should be charged from those responsible and not from Devotees Money
