Terrorists Protests spark tension at Viyyur jail

THRISSUR: The Viyyur Central Jail witnessed high drama when the 11 accused in the Kashmir recruitment case were taken there. The accused, including Thadiyantavide Nazeer, refused to alight from the vehicle and resisted being subjected to a search. They demanded a separate cell for each and shouted slogans of a religious nature.

Some screamed wildly. One hit his head against the wall of a cell, jail authorities said. The situation was brought under control after a few hours. The 11 inmates are undergoing trial in the case at the National Investigation Agency Special Court in Kochi. The NIA had filed charge-sheets against 24 accused in a case related to enrolment of youths for anti-national activities.
