Kanhangadu: In a recent act of blasphemy, Islamic fundamentalists have painted the entrance of the famed Madiyan Kulom temple. The entire concrete area and attire of the entrance coupled with the attire of the figure were painted green. However, it has been alleged that police, who rushed to the spot in a hasty bid to camouflage the act of vandalism, covered the green paint with another shade, making the entire thing gross.

Various Hindu organizations have condemned the vandalism and have censured police laxity in handling the incident. “This happened because of police negligence. Such incidents are planned well and executed meticulously. They are being repeated and escalating owing to police inaction. No action is ever taken against perpetrators. These lead to unbridled repetition of such marauding acts against temples and temple properties. Take the recent incident of desecration by planting a buffalo head inside the premises of Balagopala Temple in Mangadu- police have not yet been able to nab the culprits. Same is the case regarding what happened in Mooppugiri Temple in Kasargode.”
