GURUVAYUR: The Guruvayur Kshetra Paramparya Paricharaka Samiti has said that the opening of the doors of the temple for all cannot be accepted.

The pooja system and the rituals of the Guruvayur temple had been prescribed by Adi Sankaracharya and the system was being followed at the temple without any changes till now, Samiti general secretary Kiziyedom Raman Namboothiri told newsmen.

Temple Thantri Chennas Satheesan Namboothiripad told newsmen that he had expressed at the joint meeting held at Thrissur a few days ago his resentment against changing the traditions, customs and rituals being followed at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple.

The Samiti leaders supported the decision of Thantri Chennas Raman Namboothiripad who directed the performance of a purification ritual after the entry of Ravi Krishna, son of Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi.

The government is empowered to issue an ordinance on the rituals or temple entry being a democratic country but imposing a law on the rituals and customs of the temples will not be fair, the Samiti said.

Temple Thantri Chennas Satheesan Namboothiripad presided over the meeting. Thelampatta Narayanan Namboothiri, Pottakkuzhi Bhavadasan Namboothiri and MN Nambisan also were present.
