Kozhikode: Tension prevailed on the NH 17 near West Hill here on Thursday, when NH authorities tried to demolish Kashi Mutt which houses two temples and the Hindu Aikya Vedi district committee office, as part of its road widening.

Due to the protest of Hindu Aikya vedi members and sensing the gravity of the issue officials left without much confrontation.

Meanwhile, District Collector A Jayathilak said that the RDO will convene an all-party meeting next week to chalk out a solution.

There was little cooperation from Muslims and Christians for the proposed Guruvayur and Sabarimala Railway lines, The government haven’t done anything to solve those important issues and in the mean time they are targeting Hindu Temples.
