Temple Burglary:Jihadi under arrest

Kasarkode:Police arrested 2 Jihadi’s for the serial Burglaries in Temples here.Bashir (40) a known thief focussed his attention  famous temples in the area after his acquaintances with local Jihadi extremists.


 


Ukkas Basheer  a resident of nearby Cherkala area, was arrested from his second wife’s residence at Vitala in neighbouring Karnataka from where the investigating officials could retrieve some valuables and Rs 15,000 in cash,


Valuables, including gold and silver ornaments, some of them studded with diamonds, were stolen in the burglarly at the temple which came to light.


Basheer, who was arrested on the basis of evidence collected by fingerprint experts, allegedly confessed to have have been involved in several other burglaries, including the one at ancient Madiyankoolom temple near Kanhangad and recent thefts in Edaneer Vishnumangalam temple and Edaneer Madom in the district, he said. 


Police also took two other people for questioning in connection with the robbery.
