Tearful farewell to Bhagavatha acharya

PALAKKAD: The mortal remains of Bhagavatha acharya Thottam Krishnan Namboodiri who died on Friday were consigned to flames on the premises of the Thottam Mana in Vadassery near Keralassery on Saturday evening.


His son Vasudevan Namboodiri, lit the funeral pyre at 3 pm as a host of people paid tearful farewell to the acharya.

Among those who visited the residence and offered condolences included Guruvayur Devaswom deputy administrator B Kunhisankaran, C P Nair , V Achuthankutty ,Nambisan, K P Karunakaran, R Narayanan, Chandraswami, Venmani Krishnan Namboodiripad, Anjam Krishnan Namboodiri, Thiruvampady Devaswom president Vijayan, Madhavankutty, and Muthedath Sukumaran Namboodiri.

Thottam Krishnan Namboodiri, 76, was the first acharya of the Akhila Bharatha Narayaneeya Sathram. He had conducted Bhagavatha Saptahams and Narayaneeya Saptahams within and outside Kerala.

The Guruvayur Devaswom had honoured him with the title of Bhagavatha vachaspathy.

Th e Th i ruvananthapuram Seetha Rama Bhakthasabha had conferred him the title of Narayaneeya Pravachanatilakam.
