Table Marad report, says Hindu Aikyavedi
The Hindu Aikyavedi has demanded that the Marad Commission report be tabled in the Kerala Assembly.
The commission went into the circumstances that led to the violence at Marad beach in Kozhikode on May 1, 2002 in which nine persons were killed.
Addressing a Press meet, general secretary of the organisation Marad T Suresh said they have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy requesting him to take steps to table the report in the session to be held on March 14 and 15.
Though the commission headed by Thomas P Joseph had submitted the report last month, the Government had not taken any further steps on the matter.
The organisation would go an agitation if their demand was not met. The agitation programme would be chalked out at a meeting of various Hindu organisations scheduled to be held at Guruvayur on March 25 and 26, he said.
Both the ruling UDF and Opposition LDF were not interested in revealing the contents of the report, he alleged.
