Table CAG report in Assembly: Rajagopal

KANNUR: BJP national council member and former Union minister O. Rajagopal has urged the state government to table the final report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the SNC-Lavalin scandal in the Assembly for discussion.

Addressing newspersons here on Tuesday, Rajagopal said that when allegations cropped up earlier on the basis of the CAG findings, the main defence of those involved in the scandal was that the report carried only some preliminary findings and hence no discussion would be possible on its basis.

“Now that the CAG has handed over the final report on the issue to the government and the Speaker, the government should circulate it among the legislators and hold a discussion,” he said.

The only excuse that the government could possibly cite now is that a Malayalam version of the CAG report has to be prepared before presenting it in the Assembly, but this could be waived in view of the fact that the members wouldn’t get another opportunity to discuss the issue as it is the last session of the Assembly before the polls.
