Suspend Lidda Jacob before starting Muringoor inquiry

Kochi, Mar12: There has been demand from various quarters following the High Court order directing the functioning of the Muringoor Divine Centre should be probed by a Special Investigating Team headed by an officer of the rank of IG, that the Public Education Secretary Ms. Lidda Jacob be suspended before the inquiry.


According to a report several public servants such as Inspectors General of Police and the wife of a State Minister are closely associated with the functioning of the Divine Centre. They were allegedly members of the Advisory Body of the centre until recently.


Mr T P Nandakumar, Editor, Crime Weekly alleged that a group of senior IAS, IPS and other government officials are working behind this ‘underworld’ operations. They are likely to sabotage the inquiry. Ms. Lidda Jacob should be suspended as she might sabotage the inquiry, he alleged.


This centre receives huge funds from the Social Welfare Department. An estimated 9000 people are on the voters list of the centre.


It is also alleged that since the Christian Church lobby in the state is so strong with money, muscle and political power, it could even torpedo the inquiry.
