KOZHIKODE: The Koran Sunnath Society
(KSS), an organization founded by Chekannur Maulavi
who is believed to have been kidnapped and killed for
his unorthodox religious beliefs, has demanded immediate
banning of the book Fath-ul-Mueen. The ban was demanded
in a resolution passed by a convention of the society
on the theme “religious militancy in secular India”.
Speakers at the convention said the book, written in
Arabic by Sheik Sainuddin Makhum, who lived in Ponnani
in the 16th century, had been instrumental in inciting
Muslim youths to resort to terrorism. Speakers also
protested against the treatment of the book in religious
institutions as an authoritative religious text.
