A Bangalore report quoted City Police Commissioner Shankar M Bidari as saying that they might question Madani’s wife Sufiya in connection with the bomb blasts of 2008. He said Sufiya and other witnesses could be questioned as part of the follow-up investigations.

According to the Karnataka Police’s information, Madani and his wife had been seen with Thadiyantavide Nazeer, LeT’s South India commander and prime accused in the Bangalore blasts case, at Santhikoppa in Coorg three months before the terror attack. There were also reports that Nazeer had contacted Sufiya several times over the phone.

According to the police, LeT’s explosives expert Abdul Sattar alias Sainuddin, who had manufactured the bombs for the terror strike, had been close to the Madani family and that Sufiya had acted as the local guardian of his daughter in Kochi. Sufiya is tenth accused in the case pertaining to the burning of a Tamil Nadu state bus at Kalamassery on September 9, 2006. Nazeer is the first accused in this case also.
