THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even as the Home Department and the CPM are frantically trying to shove allegations about Abdul Nassar Madhani’s terror links under the carpet, more evidence cementing the allegations have come out.

The Special Investigation Team is in possession of clinching evidence to link Ummer Farooq and Sabir, accused in the Kalamassery bus burning case, with LeT ultras. A couple of witnesses deposed before the SIT that Ummer and Sabir had been workers of the PDP and associates of Sufiya Madhani.

Another stunning revelation is that Sabir, a native of Perumbavur, was the link through which Sarfaraz Nawaz, nabbed by the Central Intelligence agencies from Muscat, had been transferring funds for terrorist activities in Kerala. Last October, Sarfaraz Nawaz transferred Rs 50,000 to Sabir through Subair, a friend of Sabir and a native of Chengola in Ernakulam.

Subair told DySP P.K. Ranjan during interrogation that Sarfaraz Nawaz called him thrice to ensure that the money was received and handed over to Sabir. “The amount was transferred through Western Union Money Transfer. I received it from Perumbavur post office,” he said.

Subair, who is doing plywood business in Perumbavur, said that he had a long acquaintance with Sabir. He testified that Sabir had been a PDP worker and was involved in the Kalamassery bus burning case. “Thadiyantavide Nazir alias Haji used to come to Perumbavur to visit Sabir,” said Subair.
