Speed-up Marad CBI enquiry : Hindu Aikya Vedi

via HK Correspondent published on October 15, 2006

Kochi: The Hindu Aikya vedi during a press conference has demanded that the CBI enquiry into the Marad massacre should be accelerated. With this aim the HAV will be conducting protest march through out Kerala. As a preliminary move seminars will be held at Ernakulam, Thiruvanathapuram and Kozhikode regions, whereby eminent persons from the political socio-cultural fields will take part. The first seminar will be at Kozhikode. This was announced by the HAV state general secretary Shri. E.S.Biju and the state assistant organisation secretary Shri. K.P.Haridas. During November protest marches will be held in every district.

The Marad enquiry commission has clearly indicated that it was due to the lack of political will and indifference of the then govt. as well as the opposition which culminated in the Marad massacre. Being so, the mud-slinging game which both the LDF and UDF is conducting now is meaningless and to divert the attention of the people from the real issues.

Some leaders of both these fronts had prior information that the massacre at Marad is going to happen. But the fact that these leaders kept mum made the Police and Govt. officials inactive. In order to save these political leaders both the fronts objected to CBI enquiry in the initial stages. K.M.Mani who was the law minister then, had tried to block the CBI enquiry by using the advocate general in which his plans failed.

Even after the Marad enquiry commission had submitted its report, it was lying untouched for six months before it was presented in the assembly that too when the high court objected to such an indifference by the govt. There is enough proof of the NDF’s involvement in the massacre. Still the govt. has not initiated any action against the activities of this deadly terrorists.

The union govt had banned SIMI on the basis of its anti-national activities. The Marad massacre was much more heinous than what SIMI had done. Unfortunately the NDF is still not banned which is very sinister. Now the govt is planning to give financial aid to the families of the criminals who are in jail for their role in the massacre. This dangerous move will once again destroy the peaceful atmosphere at Marad.
