Special privilege for muslim teachers in gulf deputation

via HK published on December 22, 2005

Kerla Education Ministry, controlled by a Muslim League minister, send teachers to supervise SSLC and Plus Two examinations conducted for Gulf settled Malayalee students. It seems that the Muslim League minister unilaterally and in violation of established norms recruit and send only Muslims supporting Muslim League for the Gulf Examination supervision postion. For several years, the Muslim league Education minister has been recruiting and sending only Muslims for  examination supervision and related jobs to the Gulf countries. The only criterion for selection is that teachers and staff must be  supporters of the Muslim League.

It is a gross and blatant violation of all established rules and regulations of the state government. As per the state guidelines and service norms, a minimum of 20 years of teaching experience is required for the selection as an examination supervisor. But the Muslim League Education minister in Kerala arrogantly and defiantly recruit and depute only Muslim League supporters for the Gulf region for examination supervision. It is being reported that Muslim League gets commission from staff deputed for the lucrative gulf examination supervision. It is also rumored that this exclusive selection of Muslim League supporters for examination supervision is intended for illegally helping poorly prepared Muslim students to get high grades in the SSLC and Plus Two examinations.

In spite of complaints from Teachers Union and citizens, Omman Chandy, the Chief Minister has not reversed the discriminatory selection of Muslims only for deputation. It seems that Ommen Chandy is under the political threat of the Muslim League. The expensive gifts that teachers get from Gulf Kerala schools for cooperating with their corrupt practices and irregulaties in examination  seem to be the main reason why there is the mad rush to go to Gulf. As per state service regulations, the Examination Board should invite applications from eligible teachers who have 20 years of experience and later the Examination Board Secretary should select those
eligible without giving special consideration to any religion, or their political affiliation. Politically powerful Muslim League blackmail other ruling parties and other ministry  colleagues and get away with their corrupt and communal agenda. Concerned citizens of Kerala should organize and put political pressure to wipe out such communal, immoral, and illegal practices of the Muslim League ministers in Kerala.
