Shanghumugham wouldn’t be allowed to rename Pope John Paul: Kummanam

via HK published on May 11, 2011

Kochi : VHP state general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan warned that any attempt to rename Hindu devotional place Shanghumugham to Pope John Paul will be opposed at any cost.

Shanghumugham beach is considered as the ‘Arattukadavu’ of Sree Ananthapadmanabhan and thousands of Hindus perform ‘Bali Tharpanam’ during special occasions in this very same place. Shanghumugham is the prime location for Ganesh Nimarjan at the time of Vinayaka Chathurthi.

“Latin Catholics are trying to force Hindu society for another Nilakkal movement but they will never allow succeeding to achieve their goal” said Kummanam.
