Senior Police officer helping SIMI:BJYM

KOZHIKODE: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has demanded action against the senior police officer who had ‘ordered the release of the SIMI workers’.

Addressing a news conference here on Friday, BJYM state president K Surendran said that the LDF Government is handling the extremist issue in a casual way.

“The 13 SIMI workers were released without proper interrogation. This was done at the instance of a senior police officer. He should be dismissed from service and an inquiry should be ordered against him,” Surendran said.

The activists of the banned SIMI are active in many so-called human rights organisations. “Three dailies and 12 magazines being published from Kozhikode are being run by former SIMI workers. The police should put the activities of these publications under the scanner,” he said.
