Security beefed up to meet threat to Modi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have started to beef up security measures in the state following the intelligence report that chances for a communal clash are seen in connection with Narendra Modi’s visit to attend the Hindu Mahasammelan on January 29.


The police have received hints that religious terrorists are trying to create a clash in connection with Modi’s visit. The police were able to identify the attempt of somebody to create clash in communally sensitive areas like Balaramapuram. A team led by DGP Raman Srivastava intervened and a large posse of police has been deployed in the area to resist any such move.


Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan have given orders to curb any such move taking place in connection with the visit.
