While the controversial FM, Hilal Mohammed, has been knocking the doors of judiciary seeking anticipatory bail, a secret meeting took place between himself and Union Minister E.Ahmed on 13 October in Saudi Arabia at Hotel Aziad, Mecca. The meeting lasted for over one and half hours. This meeting is all the more important at a time when there are references about the said FM in the recently published Marad Commission report as the person who provided the financial backing required for the planning and execution of the riots. While hot discussions about the commission’s report and the role of FM are going in Kerala Assembly and in the media, the above meeting abroad attributes greater importance and raise many questions about the role of UDF ministers mentioned in the report. Disregarding all protocols, a Union Minister handling Foreign Affairs stayed in Aziad hotel for over 48 hours while FM was staying in adjacent Al-Bawardi hotel owned by a Malayalee, Mr.Sattar and the Minister dared to hold a meeting with that COFEPOSA case suspect was shocked by the intelligence agencies.

There have been reports that maximum number of tents that were rented at Mecca to accommodate the Indian Hajjis were arranged by Hilal Mohammed in fictitious names. Government is understood to have lost lakhs of rupees in that deal. Hilal Mohammed who owns the FM Travel Agency is regarded as the principal Hawaala dealer in the state and has considerable influence in Malabar politics. His political career graph went up with the valuable efforts he displayed in saving the All India Leader from Malabar when he was neck deep in the sex scandal. During his Kozhokkodu visits, that leader travels only in FM’s car.
