Sanskrit varsity degree courses

KOCHI: The regional centres of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit have invited applications in degree courses in Sanskrit, music, dance and fine arts for the academic year 2006-2007.

Those who have passed Plus-Two or its equivalent exams can apply.

Aptitude tests and interviews will be conducted for those who opt for music, dance, fine arts courses. The age limit for the applicants should not exceed 23 on June 1, 2006.

The courses and study centres are as follows: 1) B.A. (Sanskrit) – Kalady Main Centre, Ernakulam

2) Payyannoor Regional Centre, Payyannoor (p.o), Kannur-670307

3) Koyilandi Regional Centre, Naduvathoor (P.O), Koyilandi, Kozhikode – 673330

4) Thuravoor Regional Centre, Thuravoor (P.O), Alappuzha – 688532

5) Thiruvanthapuram Regional Centre, Vanchiyoor G.H.S. Campus, Vanchiyoor (P.O), Thiruvanthapuram – 695035.

Degree courses for music, dance, fine arts (painting/mural) are taught only at Kalady main centre.

The degree course in Sanskrit, music and dance will be a three-year course, while the B.A. Fine Arts Course will be a four-year course.

Application forms and prospectus for Rs 50 will be issued from respective regional centres between May 24, 2006 and June 12, 2006. There are separate application forms for each regional centre of the university.

The last date for receiving the application forms and mark lists along with attested copies is June 12.
