Sanjayan Award presented to Dr. Ayyappa Panicker

The third Sanjayan Award was presented to Dr K Ayyappa Panicker at a magnificent function in Thiruvananthapuram. The award instituted by the Tapasya Kala Vedi carries a cash award of Rs50,000 and a sculpture of Bharata Matha


Presenting the award, Sri. P. Parameswaran, Director, Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, said that we had reached an era when there is none to speak for Malayalam language and the Malayalees. After Tamil and Telugu have been declared as classical Languages by the government, Karnataka has also raised such a demand for their language. “But for the unfortunate Malayalam there is none to make a demand or to argue for her”, he said.


The colorful award presentation ceremony presided over by Prof S Guptan Nair was inaugurated by the renowned film director and Phalke Award winner, Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Famous Poet Sri. P Narayana Kurup spoke about the renowned satirist “Sanjayan” (the late M R Nair).
