Sabarimala will not be made into a tourist destination: Kummanam Rajashekharan

published on November 24, 2014

Tirur: All India Ayyappa Seva Samajam Vice President Kummanam Rajashekharan has stated firmly that the holy pilgrim centre of Sabarimala will not be converted to a tourist destination. He was inaugurating ‘Ayyappa Sangamavum Sapta Kshetra Pradakshinavum’ organized by Ayyappa Seva Samajam Tirur at Chamravattam.

“The aim of foreign tourists who arrive in Sabarimala is sightseeing, not pilgrimage. Atheists and free thinkers of today do not come here in supplication to Lord Ayyappa, but merely see him there. That precisely is the reason why they resort to malicious propaganda about Makara Jyothi,” said Kummanam Rajashekharan.

Lashing out at atheists regarding their views about the sacred Makarajyothi, Kummanam Rajashekharan said, “If the atheists view the flame as mere fire, it must be borne in mind that a devotee envisages it as Lord Ayyappa. Sabarimala is the apex of sanctity of Hinduism. Whatever the ploys employed by the government be to annihilate the same, that would never take place.”

In all humility to the Supreme Lord, he said that “Lord Ayyappa is a supreme truth perceived by our sages and seers.

Everyone, irrespective of caste or creed can worship the Lord. And for those who hamper and cause hindrances to these believers, who come here to pray, time will dole out what they must endure in the form of retribution. It must be remembered that in Bharat and worldwide, temples of Lord Ayyappa are blooming galore.”
